“But loving someone, and being loved means so much to me. We always make fun of it and stuff. Isn’t everything we do in life a way to be loved a little more?” - Before Sunrise, 1995
If there's a movie about young love that I would likely watch over and over, Before Sunrise (1995) is one of it. This movie is about an American who meets a Frenchwoman on a train on his way to Vienna. After long conversations forge a surprising connection between them, he convinces her to get off the train with him and spend the night strolling around the city.
"If there's any kind of magic in this world it must be in the attempt of understanding someone sharing something. I know, it's almost impossible to succeed but who cares really? The answer must be in the attempt.”
A part of my perspective was reflected on this film, in a way that everyone of us yearn for a deeper type of intimacy. The Intimacy that is not just about physical but rather a deep bond of understanding someone, knowing what's inside their heart and mind. Truly, the essential and incomparable about each one of us is beyond our eyes. Besides, there is an interesting story about this film that was told by the Director himself, Richard Linklater.
The idea for the movie came to Richard Linklater during a night spent with a woman he met in a Philadelphia toy store in 1989. Years later, he would learn she had died in a motorcycle accident just before “Before Sunrise” began filming.- The New York Times
